Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) is a service that lets you transfer money quickly from one bank to another. Whether you are making a business transaction or transferring funds for personal needs, understanding RTGS limits is crucial to ensure a smooth transaction.
Axis Bank's RTGS transfer timings are set by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). In 2025, Axis Bank allows you to make RTGS transactions during the following times:
| Method of RTGS | Day | Timings | Transaction limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Corporate Internet Banking/ | Working Day | 7 AM - 7 PM | You can initiate payments as per the amount limit set to your account. |
| Retail Internet Banking/ | Working Day | 7 AM - 7 PM | Up to ₹1 crore per transaction (funds above ₹1 crore will get processed on the next banking day/hour) |
| Mobile Banking | On 2nd & 4th Saturdays, Sundays and Bank holidays | Full day | Up to ₹1 crore per transaction (funds above ₹1 crore will get processed on the next banking day/hour) |
When you transfer money using RTGS, it is processed in real-time. This means that your transaction is processed as soon as you make the transfer.
1. Cut-off time: Transact before the cut-off time. If you miss the deadline, the transaction will be processed on the next working day.
2. Minimum limit: RTGS is designed for high-value transactions. The minimum amount you can transfer via RTGS is ₹2 lakhs.
3. No upper limit: There is no maximum transaction limit for RTGS transfers. However, if you need to transfer a large amount, make sure your account has enough balance to cover it.
4. Modes of transaction: RTGS transfers can be initiated via Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, or at a bank branch.
RTGS is one of the fastest, safest, and most reliable methods for transferring high-value funds in India. With 24/7 availability, real-time processing, and RBI-mandated quick settlement times, RTGS ensures that your money reaches the recipient securely and swiftly.
