RD interest rates depend on the bank and how long you are willing to keep your money locked in.
Generally, anyone can open a Recurring Deposit Account, including resident Indians, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), minors with a guardian, Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs), businesses, trusts and societies.
The minimum deposit amount required to open an RD is ₹500.
The minimum tenure is 6 months, and the maximum tenure is 10 years.
Specifically, you will not have to pay taxes on it until your total interest income for the year exceeds ₹40,000 (₹50,000 if you are a senior citizen).
