In case you do not have any government-issued documents but are categorised as “low-risk” by a bank, you can proceed to open a Jan Dhan bank account and obtain its direct benefits by submitting one of the following documents:
You can initiate the online process of opening the Jan Dhan Yojana account; however, you will have to visit the branch of your chosen bank to open your account.
1. Visit the official PMJDY portal.
2. Scroll down and find the “e-DOCUMENTS” section.
3. Download the Jan Dhan account application form in your preferred language.
4. Print the form, fill it out with accurate details and attach your passport-size photograph to it.
5. Locate the nearest branch of your chosen bank. For example- if you want to open a Jan Dhan account with Axis Bank, use the branch locator to find the nearest Axis Bank branch.
6. Visit the bank branch with the required documents and duly fill out the account opening form.
7. Submit the documents to an authorised bank official and he will assist you in opening a Jan Dhan account.
If you are unable to find a bank branch near your home, you can visit a Business Correspondent (Bank Mitra) outlet to open a basic savings deposit account under the PMJDY scheme.
