Phishing Alert: Beware of emails asking you to transfer money

We’ve observed phishing emails from unknown persons claiming to be from Axis Bank. These fraudulent messages state that your account received an erroneous credit and ask you to transfer the money back. While these emails may look convincing, with our logo and links making them look like they have been issued from our online banking portal, they are not from us.

Please do not respond to or transfer money based on these phishing emails.

How to Identify a Phishing Email:

• Check the sender's email address carefully. Official email address of Axis Bank is info@alerts.axisbankmail.in/ info@digital.axisbankmail.com. All legitimate Axis Bank emails include a sender icon.
• Watch for mismatches between the displayed email address and sender name.
• Be cautious of emails that use urgent language, threatening consequences if you do not act immediately.
• Check if the email signature contains information inconsistent with what you know about the sender.
• Remember, Axis Bank will never request money transfers via email or any other medium, regardless of the reason.

Steps to Protect Yourself:

• If you receive a suspicious email like this, do not respond. Instead, report it to Axis Bank through official channels:

  • Email: report.phishing@axisbank.com
• Never provide your personal or banking information in response to an unsolicited email.
• Do not click on unsolicited links or download attachments from unknown or suspicious emails.
• Ensure your computer and mobile devices have up-to-date security software to protect against malware and other threats.

Reporting mechanism:  

• Report any financial or cyber related crimes immediately to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) – National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal via their toll-free helpline number ‘1930’ or website - Click here or through Support Section on Axis Bank Website - click here
• Report any suspected fraud communications received via SMS, WhatsApp or call within 30 days on Chakshu portal- click here
