Rajeev Mantri

Rajeev Mantri is a seasoned financial services leader with over 28 years of experience spanning banking, financial services, credit information, and global financial institutions. As Group Head and Chief Financial Officer at Axis Bank, he leads the Bank’s Finance function and is responsible for financial reporting and controls, financial planning and analysis, balance sheet and capital management, cost optimisation, taxation, and investor relations. He plays a key role in driving the Bank’s financial strategy, governance framework, and long-term value creation agenda.

Before joining Axis Bank, Rajeev served as Executive President and Chief Financial Officer at Bandhan Bank, where he led the Finance and Strategy functions and played a pivotal role in the strategic transformation and growth journey. Prior to this, he was CFO (India) and Cluster Finance Head, South Asia at Citibank, overseeing finance operations across the region and leading key strategic initiatives, including the divestiture of the retail banking business and expansion of the wholesale banking business.

Earlier in his career, he spent nearly 15 years with Standard Chartered Bank in India and Singapore, holding several senior leadership positions across Corporate and Institutional Banking, Retail Banking, Financial Control, and Business Finance. He also headed the Finance function for Mashreqbank’s Corporate and Investment Banking business in the UAE and served as Chief Financial Officer at TransUnion CIBIL.

His extensive international experience across India, Singapore, and the UAE has enabled him to build deep expertise in banking finance, strategic planning, regulatory engagement, capital management, governance, and business transformation.

Rajeev is an active member of the CFO Board India, a not-for-profit platform that brings together senior finance leaders to exchange perspectives on governance, transformation, technology, risk management, and business growth. During his tenure at Citibank, he also served as a Director on the Boards of CFIL (NBFC) and CSIPL, contributing to governance and strategic oversight.

Rajeev is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and holds a Global Executive MBA from INSEAD Business School, Singapore.
